Downtown Banff
Bear Street Parkade
FreeMulti-level parkade near downtown. The best free parking option in Banff - arrive early in summer as it fills by 9 AM.
Pro Tip: Park here and take ROAM Route 1 to the Banff Gondola, Route 6 to Lake Minnewanka, or Route 8X to Lake Louise.
Train Station Lot
FreeLarge lot near the Banff Train Station (now a restaurant). Good overflow option when Bear Street fills up.
Downtown Street Parking
$4/hourMetered parking along Banff Avenue and side streets. Good for quick stops, but expensive for full days.
Fenlands Recreation Centre
FreeOverflow parking lot by the recreation centre. Further from downtown but usually has space.
Lake Louise Area
Parks Canada Park & Ride
$21/dayThe main parking lot for accessing Lake Louise via Parks Canada shuttle. Required unless you arrive very early (before 7 AM).
Important: This is for Lake Louise access only. For Moraine Lake, you need a Parks Canada shuttle reservation OR a commercial tour - see options.
Lake Louise Lakeshore Lot
$21/dayLimited parking right at Lake Louise. Fills by 6-7 AM in summer. Only realistic option is arriving before sunrise.
Lake Louise Village
FreeLimited parking in the village. Good for ROAM Route 8X connection to the lake. Has grocery store and restaurants.
Moraine Lake Road
CLOSEDMoraine Lake Road is permanently closed to private vehicles. You cannot drive to Moraine Lake.
Access: Parks Canada shuttle (limited) or sunrise tour operators (guaranteed).

Arrive Before 8 AM
Free parking lots like Bear Street Parkade fill up by 9 AM in summer. Lake Louise lakeshore fills by 6-7 AM. Early birds get the spots.

Hotels include parking. Stay one night and you can access attractions before the day-trip crowds arrive.
