Parks Canada Vehicle Reservation System
Since 2023, private vehicles require a Parks Canada reservation to access Moraine Lake Road. These reservations are extremely limited and sell out within minutes of release. The easiest and most stress-free way to visit is by booking a shuttle or guided tour.

The absolute best time to visit. Watch the first light paint the peaks golden while mist rises from the still waters. Minimal crowds and perfect conditions for photography. The lake's famous turquoise color is most vibrant in the calm morning light.
Early Morning
7:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Still relatively quiet with good lighting conditions. The sun is higher but crowds haven't fully arrived yet. A good alternative if you're not an early riser but still want a peaceful experience.
Midday
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Peak visitor hours with significant crowds. Parking fills up quickly and the experience can feel rushed. The harsh overhead light is less ideal for photography, though the turquoise color remains stunning.
Golden Hour
